PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this research were to:
1. collect and record the medicinal plant knowledge and use of healers in a relatively isolated native Mexican village, where evidence of cultural decline threatened the integrity of such knowledge;
2. preserve important indigenous plant knowledge which may be lost as younger generations continue to move to the cities and western medical technology replaces medicinal plants and curanderos;
3. contribute to improved plant pharmacological knowledge in the West based on native knowledge systems;
4. document an aboriginal scheme of plant taxonomy
